Personal Profile

Tiangang Yang received B.Sc. from the department of Physics at Dalian University of Technology in 2009. He completed his Ph.D. work at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Science. He did his postdoc in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) from 2016 to 2019. His research has been focusing on dynamical resonances in chemical reactions, quantum effect in low-temperature interstellar chemistry and cold ion-molecule reaction dynamics. He joined the Department of Chemistry, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) as a tenure-track assistant professor from 2019 to 2021, a tenure-track associate professor from 2021 to 2025. He is a tenured associate professor since December 2025. Postdoctoral, fully funded Ph.D. positions are available in his group.

Education

Tiangang Yang received B.Sc. from the department of Physics at Dalian University of Technology in 2009. He completed his Ph.D. work at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Science.


Work Experience

Tiangang Yang joined the Department of Chemistry, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) as a tenure-track assistant professor from 2019 to 2021, a tenure-track associate professor from 2021 to 2025. He is a tenured associate professor  since December 2025.


Honors & Awards

Tiangang Yang was selected as a Young Scholar of the Recruitment Program for Global Experts (Youth Project). He is recognized as a National Leading Talent under the Shenzhen High-level Talent Program and a core member of the Guangdong Provincial Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team Program. He received the Qiushi Outstanding Young Scholar Award. Additionally, he has been honored with the Excellent College Tutor Award (Shude College), the Excellence in Teaching Award, and the First Prize in the Young Teachers’ Teaching Competition at Southern University of Science and Technology.
