Professor Ming Yu is Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, IEEE Fellow, the winner of the 2020 Microwave Application Award in the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society as well as the IEEE MTT-S Distinguished Microwave Lecturer 2010-2012. He has been in the microwave area for over 30 years with great success in both industry and academia. His main research interests lie in the design and manufacture of microwave devices for applications such as 5G wireless base stations and next generation satellite communication systems. He holds more than 30 patents and has authored or co-authored more than 200 publications and numerous proprietary reports. As a PI, he has completed over 40 research projects that have generated over $500 million in economic benefits to industry. Currently, Prof Yu is a Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology, and a Distinguished Research Fellow at the National Centre for Applied Mathematics Shenzhen.
