Personal Profile

Ping Yu is an Associate Professor, Researcher, and Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Physical Science and Technology, ShanghaiTech University. She received her bachelor’s degree from Nankai University in 2004 and her Ph.D. from the Department of Physics, Fudan University in 2009. She subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Microstructure Physics and the University of Regensburg in Germany. In 2016, she joined ShanghaiTech University, where her research focuses on the surface synthesis of carbon-based quantum nanomaterials and quantum magnetic probing. In 2022, she was selected as a “Eastern Scholar” Distinguished Professor of Shanghai universities.


Research Interests

  • Precise fabrication of carbon-based quantum nanomaterials using surface synthesis techniques, and atomic-precision quantum magnetic probing and manipulation via low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy.


Education

Bachelor’s degree from Nankai University (2004); Ph.D. in Physics from Fudan University (2009).
